Week 14

Oh what a crazy week! I was going to do this weeks email Dr. Seuss style........ but don't have time.
I think I will start by talking about today. Let´s see...... Woke up at 6:30(boring) did pushups for half an hr, ate sauteed onions with ketchup(the only food I have right now), and boy oh boy did we deep clean the house. I mean imagine cleaning a house that probably hasn't been cleaned really well in a few years. It was horrible!!!! I tell you my house now looks and smells a ton better.

So I found out that a package came for me a few weeks ago and then the AP´s lost it and then it was found and they gave it to my zone leader who lost it who then found it and gave it to some missionaries in another zone who gave it to some missionaries in a city 2 hrs from here who gave it to my zone leaders again who will be giving me the package some time in the next 2 weeks. I hope it never happens again.

Silvana and Victoria have been faithful with coming to church, but I tell you Satan is working harder than ever to get them discouraged. Time after time we arrive at their house with a preacher or an Apostasy friend (that is what we call them) telling her that we are trying to steal her soul or rob her family or some other stupid thing. Have you every been somewhere where you are fighting with the devil and the spirit is super strong and then you come away feeling tired and worn out? Yup that has been happening.

Well I´ve got to go my fine feathered friends. Email time goes by way too fast. Until Neste Semana!(next week)
Love you all!

This is a bit from his chat this morning:
later today I will be teaching a 16 year old boy
Oh man dad
the work here in Campo Mouroã is exploding
so about 3 months ago the 1 ward here was split into 2 branches
all the members here are really close
the district pres (like a stake pres) and the 2 branch pres and their counselors and us 4 missionaries got together and set some goals
we got permission from the mission pres to start going on splits
(each missionary goes with a melk. holder so there are 4 sets of missionaries)
we will be going every night this week from 6 to 9
to day we are all fasting that we will make our goals
the 2 branches want to become wards
in order to become a ward you need 15 active men
we have more than enough sisters in each ward and really need families and men
my district has 9 active men and the other district has 12
Spencer • 7:35 AM
We are going to go insane in the next few weeks

Spencer • 7:36 AM

Last night the district pres and us 4 missionaries had a meeting
the spirit was insane
we re going to make the goal
we are going to make 2 branches into 2 wards

Week 13

I SAW MONKEYS!!! I SAW A HUGE BUTTERFLY WITH BLUES WINGS AND EACH WING WAS ABOUT THE SAME SIZE OF ONE OF MY HANDS!!!

WE HAD 2 BAPTISMS!!!!! I GOT MY MAIL (camera has not come yet). I ALMOST WENT CRAZY BECAUSE WE TRAVELED SO MUCH!!!

Ok,(take a deep breath)

Traveled a few times for failed baptism interviews, (they never showed up) traveled again for zone meeting and got my mail! I got a few letters from my awesome sister Lindsey. I got a really cool Chrismas tie from my parents. I got some awesome Christmas cards from friends and family. Man, I love it when people send me mail! It makes me sooooooo happy!!  (We only get our mail at zone meetings)

On sat. I we had 2 baptisms. I baptized Silvana and my comp baptized Victoria(15). They are considered Golden Investigators because they seemed to be prepared for us and did everything we asked them to do like praying for a answer or reading a chapter from the Book ofMormonn. They are both very firm and the mother was looking for the truth!!! So awesome! Well my time is up and I have told you the highlights.

Tchou!

Week 12

HOWDY ALL!

Sorry, but not much happened this week. Ok I guess that is a lie. Elder Zombrano and his comp. Elder Tapeworm baptized a family that Zombrano and I found while contacting when Mortensen was at the hospital dealing with his little 9ft friend. The mother of 3 girls came up to us and asked us what church we belonged to and if she could come. About the same moment that she started walking towards us we both had a feeling that we should go talk to her. On Saturday, she and her 3 little girls (11, 10, and 8) were baptized! I found out later that they were (no longer are) Jehova witnesses!

My comp. and I are currently teaching a mother and her 15 year old daughter. They came to church yesterday and loved it. They accepted the invitation to be baptized and we are helping them prepare. We currently have 4 baptism dates set and a 16 year old boy we are going to invite tomorrow.

Oh I almost forget the best part of the week!!! Yesterday as my comp and I were on our way to an appointment my comp turned into a monkey. We were 2 blocks away from the appointment when this little yippy dog came after us from someones yard. My comp turned towards me and said that if it bit him he would kick it. At that very moment, we heard the sound of a snapping chain and a huge german shepherd came out of the gate dragging the chain. He went right after my comp who, with a horrified look, ran zigzagging towards a tree. Once getting to the tree, he tried to climb it as fast as he could, scraping his arms up pretty bad in the process. I on the other hand did the stupid thing. I froze solid and prayed. The german shepherd, after treeing my comp, turned around, walked over to me, sniffed my feet and went back to his house. Prayers work!!!!

Here are some pics of the house.
Oh hi, This is my beautiful self using my friend's camera to take pics (sorry bout the dirty mirror)

🎶Oh sisters lets go down, let's go down oh come on down. Oh sisters let's go down, Down to the river to pray!!🎶
🎶As I went down to the river to pray, study´in about that good ól way and who shall wear the roman crown, good Lord show me the way!
Oh Brothers let's go down, let'

s go down oh come on down. Oh Brothers let's go down, Down to the river to BAPTIZE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!🎶
OH YEAH!!!! If you read the word Baptize you are correct.
We went down to a brown river (Rio) to baptize!!!! And the song that I just had you sing was in my head all the way there. The old lady who was getting baptized wanted to be baptized in the way that Jesus was baptized. The mission pres. gave the permission and it happened. It was awesome!!!

That was for sure the highlight of my week. Not much happened the rest of the week. We had to travel 2 hrs, stay the night and then have district meeting.
Oh, I guess there is another cool thing that happened thais week. Elder Mortensen from San Fransisco Cal had to go to the hospital and get a 9 ft tape worm removed!!! How awesome is that?!!

Oh I also succeeded in making some amazing fried chicken! I won´t tell you haw I made it, but when I get home ask me and I will make you some!!!
I promise I will send you all some pic´s (of new area, camera died awhile ago) as soon as I get a camera!

Week 10 Totally the Best Week of My Mission

Monday,  January 2, 2017

HOWDY ALL!!!!
OH, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!

This has been the best week ever!!!!!
After an emergency transfer, I found myself 4 hrs south of Londrina in a place called Campo Manow( not sure about the exact spelling). My new comp is E. Montero, he has 54 bap. and has only been on the mission for a year!!!! He is no. 3 in the mission! He also taught English before his mission and so he knows how to teach Portuguese to me really well. As for Portuguese, it is coming along great!!!!! I have been told by a few people that I speak better than someone who took Port. in high school for 4 years!!!

There are 4 missionaries living in my house. Me, my comp, Elder Mortensen(american), and Elder Zombrano(american). Elder Zombrano and I are best friends. Elder Zombrano was one of my CTM district Brothers. I was sooooooo excited when I found out he waas going to be living in the same house. In fact, we share the same bunk bed ( I have the top anfd he has the bottom).

Let me say a few words about New Years around here. I don´t know if I told you all about Christmas and how in my last area (my house was on a hill) when I looked down into the valley it seemed to boil with fire works. Well for get that! From what I hear there are almost 0 firework laws here in Brazil. I believe it!!! All day and night for the past week there have been fireworks going off up until about 15 min before the new year. About 15 min before the new year it got really quiet outside. No fireworks, nothing, not a car drove by on the street below my little apartment 3 stories above the street. I actually thought that I might be able to fall asleep. But....... at exactly 00:00 the whole world exploded. I tell you I thought that Christmas was insane!!!! This was insane X 100!!! It was constant noise and blinding light for 7 min( i watched my watch) I could feel my insides shaking as if a band in a 4th of July parade was in my room!!!! My bedroom was brighter than noon day!!!!! I just lay there in my bed in total awe and shock!!!!!!

Yesterday at dinner time Elder Z and I experimented with food. We were starving and wanted to eat. He was trying to make peanut butter (they hate it around here) by roasting peanuts and crushing them, and I was trying to make fried chicken. WE BOTH SUCCEEDED!!!!! He finally after 2 hrs of crushing and adding a little sugar and syrup (which i made) got some really awesome peanut butter. I, on the other hand, took some chicken, rolled it around in flour and salt and fried it in butter! IT TURNED OUT AWESOME!!! Elder Z sat there in total shock and awe as we ate that fried chicken. It was sooooooo goood! It was juicy not dry!! I was sooo happy with myself!!! We later got my syrup and his peanut butter and dipped apples in the syrup and then rolled it in the peanut butter. It was really good, and today we are buying more ingredients so that we can make more fried chicken and awesome apples.

Well sorry my week wasn´t so interesting I promise it will be better next week!!!!

Week 9 My Week

Monday, December 26, 2016

I guess you could call this an eventful week. Overall it has been a pretty long boring week.
This week consisted of a lot of visits to Londrina.I have been having some trouble with my comp. not keeping rules and not training me and I asked to talk with the pres. In the end of all that talking, it was decided that I would be transferred. In 2 hrs from now, I will be leaving by bus to go to a tiny town 5 1/2 hrs south of here.

On the day before Christmas Eve there was a mission Christmas party. It was awesome!!!!
My mission pres is a nut. He is so funny! At the end of some talks and an awesome lunch he pretended to be Pai Natal and passed out presents to each off the missionaries one by one. He acted like he was really old and couldn't walk. He died a few times and the ap´s revived him. He handed presents out one by one for about 3 hrs. All of the presents were some kind of house cleaning house supply. It got really funny and everyone wasdyingg the whole time.

I promise next week will be more interesting.
